Divisions of Play

U = University Division
All SU and ESF students, faculty, and staff may participate. Where there are differences in rules, men's rules apply. "A"
and "B" sub-divisions based on ability will be offered in each sport whenever there is sufficient registration in both divisions to support seperate competition.

W = Women's Division
All SU and ESF female students, faculty, and staff may participate. Men may petition the Intramural Management Team to play in this division. Where there are differences in rules, women's rules apply.

Someone may play in EITHER University "A", University "B" OR Women's in any given sport. - one team per person.

C = Co-Rec Division
Rules have been modified to ensure a 50 percent gender split and to maximize participation by both men and women. Participants in any of the other divisions may ALSO participate in Co-Rec in the same sport. One team per person.

All managers' meetings are mandatory. Every team MUST be represented by at least one person. Meetings are at 7.30 p.m. in Archbold Gym (actual room assignments will be posted when you enter the gym). SUID Card is required for admittance to the building.

Levels of Play
Intramurals are for the "weekend warrior" as well as skilled athlete. To accommodate this, in all University Division sports, there are separate "A" and "B" competitions, with separate championships awarded in each. It is expected that teams will be realistic about their team's playing ability. Blow-outs are no fun for either team! With that in mind, the Intramural staff retains the right to REASSIGN teams should they obviously be in the wrong league once play has begun. Losses of teams that move from "A" to "B" and wins of teams that are moved from "B" to "A" will be retained in the standings.

Some Quick Intramural Facts

  • All intramural registration is done ONLINE at www.suintramurals.info Team managers MUST have their team name, and the names and email addresses of ALL players to register
  • Deadlines are DEADLINES. If you MISS a deadline, the odds are you will NOT be able to play the sport. The web page will be inaccessible after the deadline

  • Intramural sports are free unless you DON'T show up! Forfeits are a pain for everyone, so to increase the likelihood that you WILL show, a forfeit fee is charged at registration and may be picked up at the conclusion of the sport if you played all your games/matches. The charge is $20 for team sports and $3 for individual and double sports. This is paid in the Recreation Services Office, 241 Archbold Gym, during business hours

  • Forfeit Fee refunds are the responsibility of the MANAGER to claim in the REC Office, 241 Archbold Gym, after the conclusion of a sport. Any fees remaining at the end of the school year are not refundable or applicable to the following year's sports
    NOTE: When you come to the Recreation Services Office, you will be required to fill out a form. A check will be mailed to you in approximately two weeks.

  • There will be a charge of $40 for ICE TIME for intramural broomball. The charge MUST be paid at registration with the forfeit fee, and is NOT refundable, whether or not a team completes the season
